A busy booker isn't reading your whole bio. They're trying to answer three questions fast: What do you sound like? Will people come? Are you easy to work with? A good EPK answers all three before anyone scrolls.
Autoplay music, a 1,000-word origin story, a PDF that's 30 MB, and dead social links.
Put the date, city and draw in the email body, add one link, and send no attachments. Follow up once, a week later. Send to the right person (talent buyer or promoter, not the general inbox).
An EPK isn't a one-time file. Update draw and press after every meaningful show. A web EPK with one stable link beats re-sending PDFs.
Sonic DIY includes a public EPK page for your band, managed in the same account as your gigs and band finances, so you can keep one link up to date instead of re-sending files.
Before you pitch a show, check whether it can pay: the free Gig Profit Calculator shows net, per-member split and break-even ticket count. No signup.
